Picture
Inserting the card
  1. Lift the card slot cover by pulling it slightly OUT away from the camera.
  2. Be sure the card is UNLOCKED (there’s a switch on the left edge of the card)
  3. Face the card label up, as shown in the picture.
  4. Insert the SD card securely into the slot and press until you hear a click.
  5. Close the card cover. (The camera will warn you if you haven’t closed it properly.)

HOw do I format the card?

Formatting your SD card
Formatting will irretrievably erase everything on the card.
  1. With your SD card inserted in the camera, press the MENU button or touch the LCD screen to bring up the on-screen menu.
  2. Choose OTHER FUNCTION > FORMAT CARD.
  3. Follow the prompts: touch either SD Card 1 or SD Card 2 (depending on which slot you’re using)
  4. When complete, EXIT

**New (unused) SD cards will occasionally cause the camera to display a "CHECK CARD" alert. This means simply that your card needs to be formatted. Follow steps 1-4 above.

how do I delete footage

In general, I'd suggest to just keep everything on your card, and make decisions after you've saved raw footage to your computer.
But should you need to erase individual clips from your card, here's how:
  1. Set camera to "playback mode" by using the switch on the camera's rear edge, beside the battery.
  2. Press the MENU button on the camera's side.
  3. From the on-screen menu, choose VIDEO SETUP.
  4. Choose DELETE from the next menu.
  5. You can delete single or multiple clips.

how do i get the video off my card?

Rule #1: DO NOT IMPORT DIRECTLY FROM YOUR CARD!
Here's a short video that explains two ways to get the footage off of your card:

1. Bulk Transfer: a quick and clumsy way to transfer all of the footage from the card into your computer.

2. Targeted Transfer: a slower but more precise way to copy specific video files from your card. Use this method if you have old video you no longer need.
